New Maple Ridge Development Announced for Ave Maria

One of Florida's most successful homebuilders, CC Devco, is slated to begin building a new subdivision within Ave Maria called Maple Ridge. The first phase sitemap shows about 150 homes located just south of the town center in what originally was part of the Hampton Village neighborhood.

 The Sunshine State Steak Cook-Off -- now in its third year -- keeps getting bigger and now rivalries are building among local teams from Ave Maria who, even if they don't win prize money, will at least have the satisfaction of beating their neighbors. UPDATED

 The Bean of Ave Maria and the Queen Mary Pub and Grille, two of Ave Maria's longest-operating restaurants, have redecorated, revamped menus and improved service in preparation for what proprietor Daniel Dix expects to be a busy season. Above, the Bean sports some new colors and new furniture as part of its freshening up.

Genuine Feminine Conference Focuses on Women & Education

Women and Education is the theme of this year's Genuine Feminine Conference, which will be held at Ave Maria University Saturday, Jan. 19, and will include as speakers Sr. Jane Dominic Laurel, Meghan Cox Gurdon, Dr. Catherine Pakaluk, Dr. Rosemary McCullough, and Ambassador Michael Novak. Women residents of the town are being especially welcomed to attend.

Tom Cardamone, Illustrator of "Monty" Book, Passes Away

Tom Cardamone, illustrator of the first children's book set in Ave Maria, Monty, Cat of Ave Maria, died on January 2nd after a long illness. He was 86.
