Queen Mary Pub and The Bean Freshen Up for the "Season"

Customers at The Bean of Ave Maria and its sister establishment, the Queen Mary Pub and Grille, are seeing some changes to the familiar eateries -- some freshening up and streamlining for what proprietor Daniel Dix expects to be a busy season.
Redocorating, including new paint and furniture in The Bean and new pictures in both restaurants that depict more scenes in the town, is under way and the Pub has a new menu and new hours. Right, some new colors at The Bean, with students having coffee in a new conversation area.
"This year is going to be a big year in Ave Maria," Mr. Dix said, "So we brought in consultants to help freshen up the appearance and help us become quicker and more efficient serving our customers."
The pub rolled out its new menu Tuesday night, a streamlined selection of items that Mr. Dix said "will make service quicker by focusing on those items that people want the most."

Among the items on the new menu is a "name your own burger" that can be customized in seemingly infinite ways, some new additions such as tamale cakes and a number of gluten-free selections.
"We're re-dedicating ourselves to fresh, quality food," Mr. Dix said. "Even our mashed potatoes are made fresh each morning from scratch."
The pub now is open six days a week for lunch and dinner as well as lat nights on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. And a new event -- trivia led by local DJ Tom DiFlorio that uses television screens and wireless buttons for the competition -- begins Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. The Bean is open seven days a week.
