Chicago Fire Return to Ave Maria Jan. 20

The Major League Soccer Chicago Fire will be back in Ave Maria in a few weeks, returning for the third straight season to start their spring training.
The Fire announced Friday that the team will arrive in Ave Maria Jan. 20 for 10 days of training which will include an exhibition match against Florida Gulf Coast University Sunday, Jan. 27. Left, a scene from the Fire's first day of training for the 2012 season at North Park last January.
The Ave Maria stop is the Fire's first stop of three spring-training legs. They'll go to Ventura, CA from Florida and finish the preseason in Charleston, SC, for the Carolina Challenge Cup preseason tournament.
A more detailed practice schedule will be announced later, but the club has in the past had practices open to the public at least once each day.
The game against Florida Gulf Coast University will be played at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27.
