Two of Ave Maria's best-known businesses, the Bean coffee shop and the Queen Mary Pub, changed hands today when original owners Daniel and Monica Dix sold the establishments to a partnership including a businessman from Chicago and Ave Maria resident Krista Joyce.

Montana ("Monty"), the Abyssinian cat who was featured in the children's story "Monty, Cat of Ave Maria," recently passed away peacefully at age 15, after having many health problems over the past six months. He was an extremely friendly cat who enjoyed meeting the many people who had read the fictional story of his exploration of Ave Maria and the Oratory, written by Ave Herald editor, Patricia Sette.

The U.S. Supreme Court has held that private corporations are entitled to a religious exemption from Obamacare requirements that their health care plans cover contraceptive services. The decision was closely watched by Ave Maria University, but does not directly affect non-profit organizations such as AMU, which is continuing its lawsuit against the mandate.
