Donahue Academy 3rd in Collier Scholar Bowl

 The Donahue Academy of Ave Maria Varsity Scholar Bowl Team placed third in the Collier County championships held Saturday. Michael John Dauphinais also was chosen to participate in the Varsity All-Star Team that will represent the county in the state tournament in April in Orlando.  UPDATE: Fire crews from Immokalee, Big Corkscrew and the state forestry department quickly contained a brush fire that broke out shortly after 11 a.m. Monday just north of the Donahue Academy of Ave Maria.

Both AMU Teams Advance to Finals of USCAA Basketball Tournament

A last-second basket by Kiel Lewis gave the Ave Maria University men's basketball team a 49-47 win over Spalding and sent the Gyrene's to the finals of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association championship game against Southern Virginia Saturday night. The top-seeded Lady Gyrenes walloped Penn State-Beaver 80-55 Saturday to win Ave Maria University's first national sports title -- the championship of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.
