New AMU CEO Assumes Role 3 1/2 Months Ahead of Schedule

The board of trustees of Ave Maria University has made Jim Towey's appointment as CEO of the school effective this week, rather than waiting until the scheduled date of July 1, AMU founder Tom Monaghan announced Tuesday night at a dinner attended by university supporters. "I wanted to give him a free rein right away," Mr. Monaghan said.

Gabriel Wallace Wins Young Artist Award

Gabe Wallace, whose saxaphone playing has entertained Ave Maria residents at numerous functions, has won first place in the instrumental category of the Southwest Florida Young Artist Awards, presented Sunday night at the Broadway Palm Theatre in Fort Myers.

Next Two Weeks Filled with Musical Performances

A variety of musical performances will be presented in Ave Maria during the next few weeks. There will be concerts by choirs, a piano soloist, a violin-cello duo, the Ave Maria Hometown Band and Orchestra and Opera Naples performing Verdi's Requiem. Got 99 Minutes? AMU Drama Dept Will Give You Ancient Greece

The Ave Maria University Theatre Department will provide a somewhat different take on the ancient Greeks in their production March 17-19 of the improv-inspired "The Iliad, The Odyssey and All of Greek Mythology in 99 Minutes or Less." Right, John Boland as Poseidon in a recent rehearsal.
