Ave Maria Residents On Alert After Suspicious Incident

[UPDATE} The Collier County Sheriff's major crimes unit is investigating a report that an employee of a landscaping company tried to get a 10-year-old-boy to come with him Saturday afternoon in the Hampton Village neighborhood of Ave Maria. The boy, who was not harmed, ran away and told his parents immediately who notified the Collier County Sheriff's Office.

Bear Sightings Increase -- What You Can Do

 Several bear sightings have been reported in town recently, including this picture taken by Middlebrooke resident Mikhail Whitfield. Florida wildlife officials say bears are usually drawn by food or garbage carelessly left around.
