More than 100 Dancers to Perform at Ave Maria Dance Academy Recital

A large contingent of dancers from Ave Maria and other communities in the area will perform at the Ave Maria Dance Academy's third annual recital Saturday, May 21 at Palmetto Ridge High School.

Ave Maria University's new president, Jim Towey, announced plans Friday to reorganize several departments and cut spending by $3.5 million in the coming academic year to put the school on a path to economic self-sufficiency in three years.

Donahue Academy Earns State and Regional Accreditation

 The Donahue Academy of Ave Maria has reached two major milestones, and is approaching another. The k-12 school has been approved as a fully accredited member of the Association of Independent schools of Florida, as well as earning regional accreditation through the Middle States Association. Headmaster Daniel Guernsey also said that the school, with the encouragement of Bishop Frank Dewane, also is seeking accreditation through the Florida Catholic Conference.

Donahue Academy Wins Middle School Scholar Bowl Competition

The middle schoolers from Donahue Academy won one of three regional titles in the finals of the Collier County Scholar Bowl competition Wednesday, beating Royal Palm Academy in the final round.
