Golf Cart Registration Soon Will Be Required In Ave Maria

golfcartsticker1aGolf carts driven on Ave Maria's roads and public cart paths will need to display registration stickers within a few weeks, Barron Collier executive Tom Sansbury told the August meeting of the Ave Maria Stewardship Community District Tuesday. The district board also approved the budget for the coming fiscal year that keeps expenses and assessments flat. Left, the sticker that will soon need to be displayed on golf carts.

Budget Key Topic at AMSCD Meeting Aug. 9

A public hearing on the budget for the next fiscal year is the primary topic of discussion at the Ave Maria Stewardship Community District's meeting Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 9 a.m. The budget has no increase in assessments for residents.

Two Ave Maria Women Record One of Golf's Rarest Feats

Del Webb residents Gwen Moore and Linda Helfer shot back-to-back holes-in-one on the par-3, 106-yard hole 6 at Heritage Bay. Golf Digest has calculated the odds of two players making consecutive aces at 17 million to one. "We were so glad our husbands were there," Mrs. Helfer said. "Because they never would have believed it."

County Commissioners Approve Zoning Change for Oil Well Rd. Development

Commissioners unanimously approved a zoning map change in Ave Maria Tuesday that relocates 50 acres of commercially-zoned property near Camp Keais Rd. to the southwest corner of Ave Maria along Oil Well Rd. The change makes appropriately-zoned land available for development of a manufacturing facility by medical device maker Arthrex.

Sculptor Márton Váró Sues Business Partner in Annunciation Sculpture

Márton Váró, who worked for more than two years carving the marble bas-relief of the Annunciation on the Ave Maria oratory, is suing his business manager and partner, Michael Windfeldt, seeking an accounting of what he was paid and what he was owed. The lawsuit does not involve Ave Maria University.
