Arthrex Plant Construction Could Start Late This Year

Barron Collier has completed the transfer of ownership of 21 acres of land off Oil Well Rd. in Ave Maria for Arthrex to build a manufacturing plant that is expected to employ 150 people. Arthrex Vice President Scott Price told the Naples Daily News that he hopes construction can begin at the end of this year or early 2012. Above, an artist's rendering of the plant.  Non-stop football activities begin before noon Saturday. The Ave Maria University Gyrenes play their first home game -- the first college football game ever in Southwest Florida -- at noon at Palmetto Ridge High School on Oil Well Rd. Then there's "Football Frenzy" from 3-6 p.m in the Ave Maria town center -- tailgating, food, games and activities for kids. Click here for a flyer with details. AMU Hires New Head of Institutional Advancement

Ave Maria University has announced that Dr. Louis Traina has been appointed the school's new Vice President of Institutional Advancement, responsible for the university's fund-raising efforts. He held a similar position at Hodges University for more than a decade.
