Ave Maria Dance Company to Debut at Rocktober Event

 The newly-formed Ave Maria Dance Company will debut Saturday, at noon, at the Rocktober Roundup in the town center, with a country-western themed performance on stage across from the oratory. Former AMU Pro-Life Leader Succumbs to Injuries

J on Scharfenberger passed away from injuries he suffered in an automobile accident in Georgia more than a week ago. Mr. Scharfenberger, who worked for Students for Life since graduating from Ave Maria University last May, had been in intensive care since the accident which also claimed the lives of another Students for Life staffer, Kortney Blythe Gordon, her unborn child and an occupant of another vehicle. "Jon was well known and loved by the AMU community and he will be sorely missed by all," said AMU campus ministry director Fr. Robert Garrity in announcing the young man's passing Tuesday morning.  Gov. Rick Scott made an impromptu visit to Ave Maria Friday morning, mingling with residents at The Bean coffee shop and touring the Donahue Academy and Ave Maria University. Above, Gov. Scott was greeted by Donahue students benefiting from the Step Up for Students program.
