AMU Senior Academic Officer to Retire at Year End

Dsites2r. Jack Sites (left), who led the successful effort to gain accreditation for Ave Maria University from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, will retire at the end of this calendar year. He will be replaced on an interim basis by current AMU Dean of Faculty Michael Dauphinais.

Amenities Center at Del Webb Downsized and Delayed

In the latest of a series of changes to the Del Webb of Naples community at Ave Maria, Pulte Homes has reduced the size of the neighborhood's signature amenities center by more than half, although prospective buyers and residents have yet to be told officially of any changes. Plans for Steak Cook-Off Heating Up

Potential competitors are already showing a significant amount of interest in the 2nd annual Sunshine State Steak Cook-Off in the Ave Maria town center in January, according to event chairman Tom Smith. This time, the contest that raises money for Donahue Academy scholarships hopes to serve up as many as 1,000 steaks. Above, smoke rises from the grills competing last January.

This young aligator was crossing Ave Maria Blvd. Tuesday afternoon, apparently ignoring the location of the crosswalk indicated by the pedestrian crossing sign. Or maybe he thought the sign applied just to people.
