AMU Commencement Speakers Offer Practical and Spiritual Advice

Gov. Rick Scott had words of practical advice for Ave Maria University graduates in his Commencement speech Saturday, urging them, among other things, to stay out of debt and treasure family and personal relationships. AMU conferred 164 undergraduate and 16 graduate degrees.

Gas Station Update: Opening Now Week of May 13

The Mobil gas station and convenience store on Ave Maria Blvd. now is scheduled to open the "week of May 13," says Phil Toye of Automated Petroleum and Energy, which will operate the station. Paving of the parking lot has been completed and work now has moved to the inside of the convenience store.

AMU Commencement Activities Begin with Mass, President's Award

Commencement events at Ave Maria University began Friday afternoon with the Baccalaureate Mass, followed by the President's Dinner at which Zach Crockett was named the recipient of this year's President's Award. More than 160 degrees were to be conferred at ceremonies Saturday morning. Above, hugs were prevalent after Mass as more than 1,000 people thronged the plaza outside the Oratory.
