Ave Maria Law Graduates Include Two Remarkable for Their Ages

 Fifty years separate the ages of two graduates of the Ave Maria School of Law, which held its commencement exercises Saturday. John Arceri, 70, is believed to be the oldest law school graduate ever in Florida and Mellina Fortunato, 20, one of the youngest.

 The Gyrenes, who received an at-large bid to the regional playoffs, lost 2-1 to Lindsay Wilson College Friday night, their second loss of the double-elimination tournament. They won their first game against Martin Methodist 3-2 in 10 innings and dropped the second 6-2 against conference mate Embry Riddle. Above 1st-game winner Ethan Striz.
Budget, Maple Ridge Plans Considered at AMSCD Meeting

The Ave Maria Stewardship Community District set Aug. 6 as the date for a public meeting on next year's budget, which keeps residents' assessments level with this year. The meeting Tuesday morning also looked at the scope of the new Maple Ridge development.

AMU Divesting Nicaragua Campus; Announces Favorable Bond Rating from S&P

Ave Maria University has announced that it has signed a letter of intent with another Florida school, Keiser University, to take over the Latin American campus July 1. AMU President Jim Towey also announced that it will achieve significant savings by consolidating various debt obligations through bonds that Standard & Poors's has rated as "investment grade, declaring that AMU's "outlook stable."

Budget, Plan for Maple Ridge on Agenda for AMSCD Meeting

Preliminary consideration of a proposed budget for the new fiscal year, which keeps residents' assessments flat, is on the agenda for the Ave Maria Stewardship Community District meeting Tuesday, May 7. Among other matters on the agenda is discussion of a "replat" of the Hampton Village neighborhood to create the new Maple Ridge development.
