Livelier Summer in Store for Ave Maria

The town of Ave Maria and the university campus will be much livelier this summer with the influx of hundreds of people attending six weeks of new staff training for FOCUS – The Fellowship of Catholic University students – an organization engaged in Catholic outreach on college campuses.

About 500 FOCUS missionaries and staff will begin arriving in Ave Maria May 28 and will be on campus until July 8, with the number of participants swelling to 650 in the second week of June.

FOCUS was founded in 1998 and now is involved on 74 college campuses in the United States, in addition to missionary work overseas. More about the organization is on their website here.

The Ave Maria University office of conferences and events also has arranged for a number of other conferences and programs this summer, including a Marian Eucharistic Conference May 10-12, sports camps and an AMU Youth Conference July 12. More information about conferences and events at AMU is on the university's website here.

"We are very blessed to have FOCUS coming to Ave Maria," said Brian Scanlan, AMU Associate VP for conferences and events. "All the increased activity this summer is great news for the university and the town."
