AMU Completes Divestiture of Nicaragua Campus

Ave Maria University has announced the completion of its planned transfer of its Latin American campus to Keiser University, a private college based in Fort Lauderdale. The transfer allows AMU "to free ourselves from the obligations and downside risk of running a branch campus in Nicaragua," AMU President Jim Towey said.

Arthrex Ramping Production at Ave Maria Facility

Production has begun at the Arthrex medical device manufacturing facility in Ave Maria. About 120 people are working at the plant now, said Arthrex VP of Manufacturing Andy Owen, with about 400 planned to be working there by year-end.

New Medical Services Coming to Ave Maria

A new medical office in Ave Maria has announced plans to open in August, in the space vacated by EPN Urgent Care earlier this week. The Medical Center of Ave Maria expects to offer OB/GYN services as well as urgent care, but hopes to expand.

UPDATE: Emergency Clinic in Ave Maria Closed

The EPN Urgent Care clinic in Ave Maria has closed, leaving residents with no home-town option for now for urgent medical needs. A company spokesperson said the clinic, which had served Ave Maria since 2008, was forced to close because Ave Maria Development declined to renew its lease.
