Art Exhibition by Donahue Student Sunday Afternoon

Michaela Cheffers, a senior at Donahue Academy, will be exhibiting 30 oils, etchings and drawings Sunday afternoon, Dec. 8, from 1-7 p.m. on the 2nd-floor balcony of the AMU student union. Miss Cheffers has been working with local artist Cornelius Sullivan.

 Ave Maria's annual Celebration of Lights drew a festive crowd from across southwest Florida Friday night for fun, food, games and the event's largest parade ever.

AMU's Towey Applauds US Supreme Court Decision to Hear Cases on Contraceptive Mandate

Ave Maria University President Jim Towey hailed as "great news" the decision announced today that the U.S. Supreme Court will hear cases involving the Obamacare mandate that employer-provided insurance must cover free birth control. AMU and dozens of other for-profit and non-profit organizations have challenged the mandate in court. "I am confident that our cause has been a just one – and I predict a near-unanimous decision in our favor," Mr. Towey said in a statement. Donahue Shamrocks to Play for State 7-Man Football Championship

 The Donahue Academy Shamrocks earned their first trip to the state 7-man football championships, beating Solid Rock Christian Academy 73-44 Thursday night at North Park. The championship game is Saturday, Dec. 14, in Lakeland, FL.
