Donahue Football Team Faces Toughest Test in Championship Game

The Donahue Academy Shamrocks 7-man football team has come a long way since first taking the field in 2009. Now, they will play for the Florida Christian Associaiton of Private and Parochial Schools (FCAPPS) state championship Saturday night against a tough Cornerstone Christian team from Gainesville.

Ave Maria University has named the land immediately around its distrinctive oratory the Donahue Plaza, honoring Jack and Rhodora Donahue for their contributions to the AMU community and to the Church. Above, Mr. and Mrs. Donahue viewing the plaque in their honor behind the oratory when it was unveiled Sunday afternoon.

Plans Proceeding for Permanent Fire/Rescue Station in Ave Maria

 The Immokalee Fire Control District is requesting proposals from architects to design a permanent fire/rescue station in Ave Maria that would replace the current temporary facility. Fire Chief Paul Anderson said he hopes the station can be completed by the end of 2014.
