Donahue Shamrocks to Play for State 7-Man Football Championship

The Donahue Academy Shamrocks overpowered Solid Rock Christian Academy Thursday night, scoring an impressive 73-44 win to power the team to its first trip to the state championships.
John Longely threw for six touchdowns and a total of 255 yards and also scored three rushing touchdowns while running for 112 yards. Matt Houde had 156 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Dan Scanlan added three TD's receiving and returned an interception for a touchdown as well. Dominic Allan accounted for two safety scores, sacking the Solid Rock quarterback twice in the end zone. J.P. Klucik had 3.5 tackles, two sacks and recovered a fumble. John Hurley led the defense with 8.5 tackles and 1 sack. Cale Schneider and Anthony Altomari added 4 tackles each. "This was a great team effort," said Coach Rich Scanlon. "We have a strong senior class and their leadership showed tonight."
Donahue, ranked second in the state, will play first-ranked Cornerstone Christian for the state championship Saturday, Dec. 14, at 7:30 p.m., at Bryant Stadium in Lakeland, FL. Both teams finished with 12-0 records for the year. Cornerstone Christian advanced with a 60-36 win over Academy of the Lakes.
