Ambassador Jean Wilkowski to Speak at The Bean

U.S. Ambassador (ret) Jean Wilkowski will be speaking at the Bean today at 2:00 p.m. about her book, Abroad for Her Country: Tales of a Pioneer Woman Ambassador in the U.S. Foreign Service. All are invited. She will sign copies of her book after her talk.
Ambassador Wilkowski entered the U.S. Foreign Service in 1944, and served in nine countries on three continents before retiring in 1980. She is the only woman to receive the Foreign Service Cup from the Diplomatic and Consular Officers, Retired (DACOR).

 The interior of the Ave Maria Publix supermarket is taking shape, as evident in the above photo. The store is on track to open in late June or early July, according to a Publix representative.

Palm Sunday Concert a Major Musical Event

The concert in the Oratory at 3 p.m. Sunday will feature the Ave Maria Choirs, a professional orchestra and several student soloists performing works of Haydn, Brahms, Bach, Schubert and Mendelsohn. Families are welcome and Timothy McDonnell, chair of the sacred music department at AMU, says that the concert is a wonderful way to expose children to classical music.

AMU Names Barbara Henkels to Board of Trustees

Ave Maria University has named Barbara B. Henkels to its Board of Trustees. Mrs. Henkels is active in a number of Catholic charities and also is a trustee of other educational institutions including Thomas Aquinas College. Her husband, Paul, had been chairman of the board of trustees until his death in January.
