In Memoriam: Jerome Franz

Jerome (Jerry) E. Franz, 71, a resident of Naples, FL passed away on Monday, June 22 at Juniper Village,  Wellspring Memory Care Center. He is the father of Heidi Hoyt and father in law of Eugene Hoyt, both of whom work at Ave Maria University and live in Emerson Park with their daughter, Sara, who attends Donahue Academy.

4th of July Celebration at Water Park

The Knights of Columbus Oratory Council is sponsoring an old-fashioned 4th of July celebration at the water park from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the 4th. Admission to the park and the festivities is free. There will be games, music and food available. All residents, students and faculty are welcome.

Basketball Camp a Success

About 30 boys and girls attended a basketball camp at the Donahue Academy sponsored by the AMU Athletics department. The response was so encouraging, AMU Athletics Director Brian Scanlan says he'll try to organize a swim team for residents. Note: time for swim team organizational meeting moved to 7:45 p.m. Thursday.

Publix Poised to Open

publixopen1Employees at the Ave Maria Publix gathered to tour the store Wednesday night on the eve of the opening. The official ribbon-cutting will be at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, and the store will open at 8 a.m.  At left, Jeffrey Blake puts finishing touches on the produce display.
