Large Crowds in Ave Maria for Several Events

 The First Sunshine State Steak Cook-Off capped a day that drew people to Ave Maria for the Family Fun Fest, various sports events and the opening of the new Del Webb model center. The steak cook-off was won by a team from the AMU faculty, calling themselves Bovus Dei, pictured above.

AMU Film Society Screening - "The Vanishing"

The Ave Maria University Film Society's next event is a screening and discussion Thursday night of the 1988 mystery-thriller The Vanishing. The film, about a man’s obsessive search for his girlfriend after her mysterious disappearance during their vacation, will be shown at 6:30 p.m. in the lecture hall of the academic building, with a talk and discussion afterward at The Bean led by philosophy professor Michael Pakaluk. All are welcome and there is no admission charge. An interview with Dr. Pakaluk about the film by literature professor Mark McCullough is on the film society's blog here.
AMU Women's Basketball Team Having Best-Ever Season

With a blowout 86-47 win over Clearwater Christian Tuesday night, the Lady Gyrenes improved their overall record to 14-5. The women are tied for first place in the NAIA Sun Conference and are ranked first in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, an organization of smaller colleges and universities The team's next game is a Sun Conference contest at home Friday at 6 p.m. against Southeastern. Steak Cook Off Highlights Busy Saturday in Ave Maria

Broadcaster and former Miami Dolphins linebacker Kim Bokamper (right) will be one of the judges at the Sunshine State Steak Cook Off, which will cap a day of events in Ave Maria that include the annual Family Fun Festival benefiting Donahue Academy, a little league baseball tournament at North Park, and the official opening of the new model center at Del Webb.

Spring Style Show Packs AMU Ballroom

The annual Spring Style Show and Luncheon drew more than 400 people to the Ave Maria University ballroom Wednesday. The popular benefit attracted women from throughout south Florida, raising money for financial aid for university students.
