The halls of the Donahue Academy were a little quieter Friday afternoon after 42 students -- almost everyone in the high school classes of the k-12 school -- left for Washington, D.C., to attend the March for Life.
The march is Monday, Jan. 24, but resident Roy Lenardson, who organized the trip, has arranged a full schedule of cultural and sightseeing activities for the students, who are accompanied by a half-dozen chaperones.
The students left the Donahue Academy Friday morning clutching heavy winter coats that will be needed for the frigid temperatures forecast over the next several days in the nation's capital.
Pastor Fr. Robert Tatman gave each student something else to help ward off the chill -- a bright red knit cap to match their red t-shirts. Below, right, Fr. Tatman modeling the hat.) Fr. Tatman plans to fly to Washington for the march later this weekend.
The Donahue students will return to Ave Maria Monday.
More than 100 Ave Maria University students and several dozen from the Ave Maria School of Law also are attending the march.
