Donahue Academy Adding Girls Basketball

The Donahue Academy continues to expand its sports program, adding girls basketball this fall. An organizational meeting will be held Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at the school for parents and players. Coach Mary Reed says that the team also welcomes girls who are homeschooled.

AMSCD October Meeting Canceled

The October meeting of the Ave Maria Stewardship Community District, scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 6, has been canceled as there are no matters requiring the board's attention. The AMSCD meets the first Tuesday of each month and the next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 3.

The Donahue Academy Shamrocks take the field for their first sixman football game Friday afternoon. Kickoff at North Park is at 4:30 p.m. and gates open at 3:30 p.m. Admission is $4/adult, $3/student, $10/family. Click here for previous story on the team

Settlement Reached in Ave Maria Law School Suit

A lawsuit by former law school professor Stephen Safranek has been settled, closing the last remaining legal matter relating to the move of the Ave Maria School of Law to Florida from Michigan. Mr. Safranek was one of three professors who sued the lawschool. The suits of the other two -- Ed Lyons and Phil Pucillo -- were settled in July.
