Public Hearing Will Discuss Zoning Change for Jackson Lab Site

Although there is still no definite plan on how Collier County would fund its $130-million share of the project, the county planning commission will hold a hearing Nov. 4 on zoning changes needed for the 50 acres of land on which the Jackson Lab facility would be built.

AMU Ranked as "Most Catholic Catholic School" in America

The respected religious journal First Things says Ave Maria University is the "Most Catholic Catholic School" in the United States in an extensive analysis of American higher education published in its November issue. AMU also ranked highly in academics, garnering a higher academic score than all Catholic schools except Notre Dame and Georgetown.

USCCB Counsel To Speak at Ave Maria Law Friday

Anthony J. Picarello, general counsel of the U.S. Council of Catholic Bishops, will give a special lecture at the Ave Maria School of Law Friday on "Lingering Legal and Moral Issues in Health Care Reform." The talk begins at 12:20 p.m. in the St. Thomas More Commons room 110. Later Friday, at 3 p.m., Bishop Frank Dewane will celebrate a "Red Mass" for members of the legal profession at St. Agnes Church. It will be the first "Red Mass" in Collier County.
Half Century Separates Youngest, Oldest Students at Ave Maria Law

They were born 50 years apart, but Mellina Fortunato, 18, and John Arceri, 68, are sharing the same experience this fall as first-year law students at the Ave Maria School of Law. They are among the youngest and oldest first-year law students ever in the state of Florida.
