Myra Daniels Donating $3 Million to WGCU

 Myra Daniels, a longtime pillar of the arts community in Florida, is donating $3 million to WGCU Public Media and the station's building will be renamed in her honor, the Fort Myers News-Press reports. Mrs. Daniels had planned to spearhead creation of an arts center at Ave Maria before Ave Maria University changed plans for the project.

Collier County vcmmissioners voted 4-1 Tuesday to approve an ordinance to regulate the use of golf carts in Ave Maria.

AMSCD Sets June 27 for Referendum on Directly Elections for the Board

The Ave Maria Stewardship Community District board has approved holding a referendum June 27 that would let residents determine whether to directly elect one or more members to the board. At their May 3 meeting, supervisors also decided to further study the matter of permitting signs on district property and also approved a draft 2016-2017 budget that keeps assessments on homeowners flat.
