Beckners Closing Their Jewelry Store in Ave Maria

One of the first businesses to open in Ave Maria -- Beckner Jewelry and Repair -- will be closing in May, owners Alan and Renée Beckner announced Wednesday.
The Beckners said that Mrs. Beckner, who has greeted countless residents and visitors over the years at the store's location in the town center, is planning a career change and wants to "serve the community in social work." Mr. Beckner will continue to work at the couple's store in Naples, which will remain open "indefinitely."
"This announcement is bittersweet," the Beckners said. "We love this community and watching it grow and flourish. It has been our pleasure to serve our many friends and customers over the last eight years that we have been a part of the retail business community in Ave Maria."
"This is our home and we will continue to be active within the community," they said. The Beckners live in the Maple Ridge neighborhood.
"We have been blessed to be a part of many engagements, births, anniversaries and other significant events in the lives of Ave Maria residents and we truly will hold these moments in our hearts forever."
Among those in Ave Maria who will miss the store is Nathan Morris, a town resident who manages many of the resident associations in Ave Maria. "The Beckners are two of the most lovely people in town," he said. "I've known them for years and my fiancée and I were just recently looking at wedding rings at their store. They always have a smile on their face and a warm greeting and are enthusiastic to help you."
They said they will be having store-closing specials over the next few weeks in advance of the store closing May 14. And, they said, "To show our love and appreciation for the Ave Maria community,'Thank You Ave Maria Celebration Party' on Friday, May 13th from 4-8pm and on Saturday, May 14th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm."
