Sheriff Organizing Local Volunteer Patrols in Ave Maria

 The Collier County Sheriff's Office is working with Ave Maria resident Tom DiFlorio to start a program called Community Volunteer Patrols in Ave Maria. As part of the program, which is already operating in many other areas of the county, volunteers patrol neighborhoods in a marked car to deter crime and report suspicious activity. Planning Commission Approves Ave Maria Zoning Change

The Collier County Planning Commission heard from several Ave Maria residents Thursday morning before voting to approve shifting the location of 50 commercially-zoned acres to a site on Oil Well Rd. proposed for construction of the Jackson Laboratory facility. The change still needs approval from the Board of County Commissioners.

Holiday Home Decorating Contest Announced

 Ave Maria Development has announced a contest for the best-decorated homes this Christmas season. Prizes are Publix gift certificates of $300, $200 and $100. Judges will be driving around town Dec. 5 to pick their favorites. UPDATE: Winners will be announced around 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at the Celebration of Lights in the town center. Two Teens Qualify for National Junior Olympics Track Championship

AMU To Offer Two New Degrees
