Laura Mastandrea Named to All-County Soccer Team

Laura Mastandrea has been named the the Most Valuable Player on the Palmetto Ridge High School soccer team and also earned designation to the the Collier County All Conference Team. Laura, a sophomore, and started all 21 games for the Palmetto Ridge Bears. She lives with her parents, Michael and Jean Mastandrea, in Del Webb.
Bill Passed by Florida House Would Provide Path to Cityhood for Special Districts

Ave Maria is one of a handful of special districts in the state of Florida that would be able to incorporate as a city if a bill passed by the Florida House of Representatives becomes law. Barron Collier vice president Tom Sansbury said, however, that the company has no plans to seek incorporation for Ave Maria and had nothing to do with the legislation.

The Ave Maria University women's basketball team is preparing for their first game Thursday morning at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Divison II national tournament in Sioux City, Iowa.  Members of the AMU women's basketball team spent time with kids at schools and hospitals in Sioux City, Iowa, this week, in advance of their appearance in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics national champsionship tournament.
