Redone Electoral Map, Maple Ridge Bond Offering Before AMSCD Meeting Sept. 9

The Ave Maria Stewardship Community District board will consider a second effort at defining the amount of "urban area" in town at its meeting Sept. 9. Also on the agenda, is a proposed $16-million bond offering for infrastructure in Maple Ridge as well as$10-million bond for the extension of Anthem Parkway.

Local Election Winners: Donalds, Passidomo, McDaniel

Byron Donalds (right) won the Republican primary for Ave Maria's state house district, and is almost sure to be seated in Tallahassee after November. Matt Hudson, who has represented the district, lost his bid for a state senate seat to Kathleen Passidomo. Bill McDaniel won the Republican primary for the District 5 Collier County Commission seat and will face a Democratic opponent in November.

Donahue Wins 2nd Straight Football Game

The Donahue Academy Shamrocks overwhelemed Seacoast Christian 52-13 in Jacksonville for their second straight victory of the young eight-man football season. The Shamrocks have a bye next weekend and play their home opener Sept. 9 against First Coast Christian from Jacksonville.
