Bear in Ave Maria Town Center Getting Bolder and Bolder

 A black bear who has been overturning garbage cans in the Ave Maria town center has gotten bolder, running through the town center in daylight and becoming more of a nuisance. Florida Fish and Wildlife officials say it will be Monday at the earliest before they can take any action. Shamrock Bank Open House Saturday in Ave Maria

 Shamrock Bank is holding a "meet and greet" Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to introduce itself to the Ave Maria community in advance of its planned branch opening in late August. Bank personnel will be on hand, there will be food and music, and people will be able to tour the branch -- the first time the building has been open to the public since it was finished more than four years ago.
AMU President Towey: "The Fight Continues" Over Religious Liberty

The Supreme Court's health care decision Thursday "did not settle the religious liberty questions" and Ave Maria University will continue its lawsuit opposing mandates that religious institutions provide insurance covering services they find morally offensive, university President Jim Towey said in a statement.

Significant Change Marks Jim Towey's 1st Year as AMU President

 Ave Maria University President Jim Towey's first year was one of more change for the school since it moved to its new campus five years ago. Mr. Towey reflected on that year in an interview with The Ave Herald. Above, Mr. Towey receiving the Chain of Office from Chancellor Tom Monaghan at his official inauguration in October, just one of the significant events in the last academic year.
