AMU Student Dies in Single-Car Accident

burroughs-125 Clayton Burroughs, a 22-year-old junior who was an original member of the Ave Maria University football team, died Friday morning when the car he was driving left the road on Camp Keais Rd. north of town. He is being remembered on campus as a lively, outgoing, popular student. UPDATE: Funeral services will be held at the Marco Presbyterian Church at 875 West Elkcam Circle, Marco Island, Monday at 5 p.m.

Vertical Construction Begins at Arthrex Site in Ave Maria

The first wall of what will be a 190,000-square-foot manufacturing facility for medical device maker Arthrex went up Wednesday morning at the site off Oil Well Rd. The building is scheduled for completion in the spring, 2013, and is expected to employ 500 people by 2016.
