The Donahue Shamrocks notched their second shutout of the seaon Friday night, beating Hollywood Christian 28-0 in a seven-man football game played in Hollywood. The win improved the Shamrocks to 3-1 on the season.

Ave Maria University held its opening Mass Friday with Bishop Frank Dewane as the principal celebrant. The university has had a substantial increase in enrollment and now has more than 850 undergraduate students.

Ave Maria Spared Brunt of Isaac

Rain and high winds were forecast to continue through Tuesday, but Ave Maria and most of southwest Florida were spared the worst from Isaac as the storm tracked farther west. As a precaution, classes were canceled for Monday at Donahue Academy, Ave Maria University and Collier County schools.

Ave Maria University won its first football game ever Saturday, beating Cape Coast Sports Academy 41-0 in an exhibition game. The Donahue Academy Shamrocks lost their first game this season, falling 48-33 to Canterbury, last year's state champs.
