Donahue Shamrocks Win Big in Port Charlotte

Matt Houde caught three touchdown passes and racked up a total of 111 receiving yards Saturday night as the Donahue Academy Shamrocks notched their second straight convincing win of the young seven-man football season, defeating Community Christian 52-0 in Port Charlotte.

John Longely passed for two TD's and John Hurley added one TD pass.  Newcomer Nathan Gay had a strong game on offense and defense and recovered a fumble in the end zone for his first TD.  Joe Chmielowski led the defense with 9 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and 3 sacks.  Marco Vega added 6.5 tackles.  Ronan Lupien had a strong defensve game in his debut and Daniel Scanlan was a disruptive force at DL all night.

Daniel Nagy added 3 offensive rushing TD's on 85 yards rushing and Lane scored one TD and 49 yards rushing and an extra point.

Coach Rich Scanlon was understandably happy with the team's dominating performance. "I was very pleased with the effort by the entire team.  Defensively we ran to the football and tackled well. Offensively, our QB's read the defense well and executed and took advantage of what the defense gave us. This game will give us some confidence as we prepare to play the defending state champions next week."

The Shamrocks play Canterbury at North Park next Saturday.
