The Ave Maria University Gyrenes played a strong game on both offense and defense Saturday to win their first football game against collegiate competition, beating Southern Virginia University 49-30 in front of a home crowd at Palmetto Ridge High School. (Above, Matt Novak passing in the 1st half)

Arrest Made in Incident at Pool in Ave Maria Town Center

 Collier County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 17-year-old boy Thursday on charges of sexual battery related to an incident the night of Friday, Sept. 14, at the swimming pool (above) belonging to the La Piazza condominium association. UPDATED Sept. 21.

7-Man Football: Donahue Loses on East Coast

The Donahue Academy Shamrocks lost 25-6 Friday afternoon in a 7-man football game played in heavy rain at Grace Academy in Fort Lauderdale. Donahue's six points were the first scored against Grace this season.

Large Gain in Bar Exam Passage at Ave Maria School of Law

Ave Maria School of Law graduates posted the best rate of passage of the Florida bar exam since the school moved to Florida, with 75.3 percent of those taking the test for the first time last July passing. The law school has lagged well behind other schools in previous years.
