AMU Asserts Pro-Life Views of Tom Golisano

Ave Maria University has issued a statement disputing characterizations of the philanthropist who recently donated $4 million for an athletic facility as "pro-choice." AMU says that the Cardinal Newman Society, which issued its own statement on the donation Tuesday, appropriately questioned the university's acceptance of the gift but "is mistaken" about Mr. Golisano's public record on life issues.

December AMSCD Meeting Canceled

As expected, the Ave Maria Stewardship Community District has canceled its scheduled Dec. 1 meeting because there are no matters requiring the board's attention. The district says its next meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 2.
Cardinal Newman Society Issues Statement on Golisano Donation to AMU

The organization that publishes The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College says it is clear "Ave Maria University is fully committed to a genuine Catholic identity." But the statement says naming an athletic building after a person whose views on abortion are not completely clear is "of concern regardless of statements from Mr. Golisano."

Ave Maria Residents Weigh In on Fox 4 Coverage

Town residents who responded to the Ave Herald's request for comment were overwhelmingly critical of recent coverage by the local TV station. The reports were "obviously biased and edited to present a negative viewpoint," was a typical comment.
