Farm City BBQ At Ave Maria Wednesday

The Farm City Barbecue has been a tradition in Collier County for more than 50 years, attracting people who come from all over Collier County.

This year, the event returns to Ave Maria, beginning at 11:30 a.m. on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

"To me, it symbolizes the start of the holiday season," says Cee Cee Marinelli of the Barron Collier Cos., one of this year's sponsors. "It brings people throughout our community together to have a good time catching up with great friends by supporting a good cause."

It's "about more than a good lunch," adds Cyndee Woolley of Professional Building Systems, this year's chair of the event.  "It is a community tradition that is about building relationships and building our future. Proceeds from the BBQ go to youth development programs through 4H and the Leadership Collier Foundation."

The lunch includes a grilled ribeye steak, corn on the cob, baked beans, rolls and Immokalee Salad and the cost is $20 a person.

Tickets can be purchased in Ave Maria from Beckner's Jewelry or online here. A flyer with more information and other ticket locations is available here.
