A Poetry Reading for Modern Times

 The poems ranged from modern to classics, and people recited from computers, iPhones, memory and old-fashioned paper at a fun poetry reading Friday night at The Bean of Ave Maria. More than 30 people attended and readers included university and high school students, town residents, clergy, and university professors and administrators. Ave Maria Design Review Board Will Be Discussed by AMSCD

The Ave Maria Stewardship Community District at its meeting Tuesday will consider the creation of a design review board that would have authority to approve plans for all non-residential construction in the town. The recommendation is one of several items on the agenda for the AMSCD meeting at 9 a.m. March 2.

National Mass for Terri Schiavo at Ave Maria March 31

Priests for Life and the Terri Schiavo Foundation have announced that the "National Mass for Terri's Day" March 31 will be celebrated again at the Ave Maria oratory. The "Terri's Day" Mass was celebrated at Ave Maria last year as well. (Left, a photo of Terri Schiavo displayed at the oratory at the Mass last year.)

Dominican Nuns Taught Oprah Winfrey the Rosary

 The Dominican Sisters of Mary who appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show earlier this month presented Oprah with a rosary and taught the TV star how to pray it, Sr. Teresa Benedicta told a packed gathering at The Bean of Ave Maria Tuesday night.

Stations of the Cross Every Friday in Lent

Several hundred people attended Stations of the Cross Friday evening in the oratory. Stations of the Cross will be held at 7 p.m. in the oratory every Friday in Lent. (Right, Fr. Robert Tatman, the parish administrator, leading the observance Friday.)
