Students at Ave Maria University and the Donahue Academy are setting a great example for everyone with their commitment to pro-life causes, Bishop Frank Dewane said Friday at a Mass celebrated at the Ave Maria oratory.
Bishop Dewane said he was especially grateful to all the students who journeyed to Washington, D.C., last month for the March for Life, and for the many students -- particularly seniors at the Donahue Academy -- who attended his march and prayers at Planned Parenthood in Naples. (Right, Bishop Dewane poses after Mass with some of those who attended the marches.)
"Lent is not just about what you will give up, but also what you will do," the bishop said in his homily, adding that the Ave Maria students set a "fine example of how to do for others."
Bishop Dewane was in Ave Maria Thursday and Friday, where he attended his first meeting of the university's Board of Trustees since being named an ex-officio member of the board last year.
