All are invited to the next Ave Maria University Naples Founders Club luncheon, Wednesday, Jan. 9, featuring a talk by Ave Maria University VP for Student Affairs Bill Kirk titled "God's House or Animal House? - Challenges to Forming Community in a Catholic University." The lunch is at Seasons 52, located at 8930 Tamiami Trail North, south of Mercato.
The focus of discussion of Ex Corde Ecclesiae in Catholic universities has been mostly on the academic community. Mr. Kirk will offer thoughts on the document's goals for community life in a Catholic, residential university setting. He will describe how AMU creates a community in which its members can flourish and will also provide some remarks on the modern phenomenon of college life - and in particular the challenges posed in the formation of an authentic Christian community.
Registration begins at 11:45 a.m. with lunch, and presentation to follow. The cost is $20, cash only. Call Veronica at 239-254-9730 or Judi Hanna at 239-598-5353 by Friday, January 4 to make your reservation.
