The AMU student group genuine.feminine is holding its second annual conference March 31, 2012.
The theme of this year's conference is: What is a woman and how does she affect her society and culture?
The day-long conference will delve into what it means to be a woman, with insights from a study of Jane Austen's heroines, and answers to questions like: what is gender, and why does it matter? With this background, the conference will look at the role women play in today's society and what she can do to change it.
The featured speaker is Kay S. Hymowitz, the William E. Simon Fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a contributing editor of City Journal. She writes extensively on childhood, family issues, poverty, and cultural change in America. Hymowitz is the author of 4 books, most recently, Manning Up: How the Rise of Women Is Turning Men Into Boys.
