Dr. Paul McHugh, Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, will speak at Theology on Tap Thursday, Feb. 17, at 8 p.m., on the subject of "Sexual Orientation from a Psychological and Catholic Perspective - Sex Change Operations, Transgender identities and Homosexual Behavior."Theology on Tap presents theological and religious topics in the casual atmosphere of the Queen Mary Pub and Grille every other week. There is no admission charge and you do not have to be 21 years old or older to attend.Among many accolades, Dr. McHugh was appointed by President Bush in 2001 to serve on the Presidential Council on Bioethics. He treated the author Tom Wolfe for depression after the writer's coronary bypass and Mr. Wolfe dedicated his novel A Man in Full to Dr. McHugh. His most recent book, Try to Remember: Psychiatry's Clash over Meaning, Memory, and Mind, challenges many commonly-held teachings about disorders Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Multiple Personality Disorder and "recovered memory."
