Dan Guernsey, headmaster at the Donahue Academy, has thanked the Ave Maria community and the Knights of Columbus for efforts at the Family Fun weekend that added about $4,000 to the school's coffers.
It was the second year for the Family Fun Day of games and attractions in the town center (see earlier story here), and the first time for a pancake breakfast Sunday put on by the Knights of Columbus. Based on the reaction, most people who dined on the pancakes, eggs and sausage hope it won't be the last. (Right, diners filled the tent behind the oratory where breakfast was served after the morning Masses Feb. 1) The net proceeds from the breakfast were $600, Dr. Guernsey said.
Dr. Guernsey said he was very grateful for the support of the more than 20 Knights of Columbus members who helped out. "It was a great parish-building and community-building event." (Below, Knights of Columbus members cooking pancakes)
