Changes are coming to the rules and regulations for operating golf carts in Ave Maria. The Ave Maria Master Association has released details of the new rules, which require that all carts be licensed, display registration stickers, and have proper equipment.
The major requirements:
- All golf carts must be licensed if they are driven on walkways or roads in Ave Maria.
- The minimum minimum age for operation of a golf cart is 14.
- Vehicles must have the appropriate equipment which includes brakelights, a rearview mirror and headlights if the cart will be driven after dark.
- Carts must be licensed, and licenses need to be displayed on each side of the cart. Licenses can be obtained at the Ave Maria Master Association offices in the town center as soon as the registration stickers are available, which is expected to be this week. Residents can download the application here (PDF), but should call the association at 239-867-4322 before bringing it in. A $2 fee will be collected to cover the cost of the stickers.
- Golf carts must obey all rules of the road. Collier County deputies will enforce infractions as well as enforcing the licensing requirement.
Full details of all the rules and regulations are included with the downloadable application.
