The Donahue Academy Shamrocks scored an impressive 31-19 win over Canterbury School of Ft. Myers in their first sixman football game of the 2010 season.
Gabe Allan (right, #23) led the Shamrocks with three touchdowns, Joe Guernsey scored defensively on a fumble recovery and freshman quarterback Cameron Joyce also scored a TD on an option play. Joyce suffered a shoulder injury in the first half and was replaced at quarterback by Nick Jaroma.
"Nick did a great job," said Coach Rich Scanlon. "He was just coming back himself from knee surgery and wasn't expecting it."
On defense, Michael Dauphinais had a team-leading 17 tackles.
The game was played Saturday morning in Ft. Myers after heavy rain Friday night forced a postponement.
The Shamrocks' next game is their home opener against Oasis Charter School of Cape Coral Saturday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. at North Park.
