The first Solemn High Requiem Mass to be celebrated at the Ave Maria Oratory will take place on All Souls Day, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m., Parish Administrator Robert Tatman has announced.
The Ave Maria University choir will sing the Requiem Op. 9 by 20th-century French composer Maurice Durufle, a work that the New York Times called "transcendent" in a review in 1989. The Agnus Dei can be heard here, performed by the English Chamber Orchestra.
Fr. Tatman will be the celebrant at the Extraordinary Form Latin Rite Mass. Two priests from the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, Fr. Brian Austin and Fr. James Fryar will serve as deacon and subdeacon.
All are welcome to attend.
Note: the regularly-scheduled 5 p.m. mass is canceled Nov. 2
