Ave Maria University opened the Martha J. Burke Chapel Wednesday, where there will be perpetual Eucharistic Adoration. A procession from the oratory (right) after the noon mass carried the Blessed Sacrament to the new chapel, which is across the street attached to the Canizaro Library.
"We are extremely grateful to the donor for contributing the funds necessary to create this beautiful chapel and providing a place of prayer and meditation
for members of AMU and the surrounding community," said Fr. Robert Garrity, AMU's director of campus ministry. (Left, Fr. Garrity at the dedication of the chapel.)
The donor made the contribution anonymously, the university said, but
wanted the chapel named for Martha Ann Jones Burke, a 79-year-old resident of Jackson, Miss.
