Donahue Academy Shines in Scholar Bowl

The Jr Varsity Scholar Bowl team from Donahue Academy bested many larger competitors and placed 2nd in the championship round Sautrday in the Naples-wide high school competition at Barron Collier High School.
The team won its first round, defeating Barron Collier and Gulf Coast. In the championship round, Donahue finished second to winner Naples High School.
Team member Joe Guernsey was proud of the school's effort. "Our school has only 32 high school students to draw from and we defeated teams from schools that were as much as 50 times larger," he said.
The Donahue team: freshmen Christine Lenardson, Joe Guernsey, Michael Dauphinais, Andrew Guernsey, Michael Klein; sophomore William Gates. they were coached by Dr. Michael Dauphinais, the dean of faculty at Ave Maria University.
The final results of the championship round, including the size of the schools competing:
1. Naples High School, 1,712 students: 253 points
2. Donahue Academy, 32 students: 203 points
3. Barron Collier, 1,721 students: 183 points
4. Community School of Naples, 800 students: 168 points
5. St. John Neumann, 266 students: 148 points.
