Strong Growth Continues in Ave Maria

Ave Maria remains the top selling single-family community in the Naples-Fort Myers area, a position it has held now for ten consecutive quarters in according to national real estate research firm Metro Study.

Ave Maria leads both of Metro Study's rankings for annual home starts, with 346 in the last 12 months, and move-ins, with 358 in the same period.

A total of 170 homes were sold in the first half of 2017 and Barron Collier executive Cee Cee Marinelli told a group of residents recently that the town is closing in on its 1500th home sale. The community has a build-out target of about 8,500.

The growth continues to draw new businesses to town. The Faithful Friends Animal Hospital opened this summer, as did another tenant in the Publix plaza, Masterpiece Mixers, which hosts parties and get-togethers for creating artwork.

In the town center, Ave Maria Religious Gifts, formerly By Way of the Family, has expanded its size and its inventory, now offering one of the largest selections of Catholic religious goods in south Florida. Its new inventory includes many one-of-a-kind antique religious articles and statues imported from Europe. Next door, the Italian restaurant Gino's Trattoria per Tutti has also expanded.

On the horizon is a long-awaited self-storage facility that will be built at the south end of town near the entrance off Oil Well Rd. where an apartment complex will be located.

David Genson, another Barron Collier executive, said that work on the self-storage facility can't begin until infrastructure for apartments is in place, expected to be in March, 2018.

There will be a total of 264 one-, two- and three-bedroom rental units in three-story buildings, Mr. Genson said.
