Donahue Secures Home Field for Playoffs

Quarterback Elias Allan had a big night passing and running Friday, leading the undefeated Donahue Academy Shamrocks to a 52-14 win over Oasis from Cape Coral in an eight-man football game at North Park in Ave Maria.

The win secured a first-round bye in the playoffs and clinched home field advantage for all playoff games except the league champsionship.

The quarterback threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns and racked up 148 yards on the ground, including two touchdowns, on 16 carries. Randy Beidelshies rushed for 107 yards on 11 carries, including two touchdowns, and also had one receiving touchdown. Mark Cheffers had 103 receiving yards and two touchdowns and JP Klucik rounded out the Donahue scoring, returning an interception to the end zone.

"I was very proud of our effort tonight," said Head Coach Rich Scanlon. "Oasis is a tough team with good athletes. We had some great individual efforts but, most importantly, we played well together."

The Shamrocks now have byes for the next two weeks and play their last regular-season game on the road against Solid Rock in Tarpon Springs.
